Back in 1993 Carolco Pictures hired James Cameron to write the screenplay for their upcoming Spider-Man movie! We’ll take you through all the plans that Cameron had for different Spider-Man villains like Electro, Sandman, and Doctor Octopus! We’ll explore the casting choices being discussed, from Leonardo DiCaprio to Arnold Schwarzenegger! We’ll also dig into why the movie never happened, and the complicated legal cases that exploded and resulted in a direct stand-off between Spider-Man and James Bond!

The 90's were a bad decade for Marvel's Mutants, and it took some seismic changes and bold creative risks to save the franchise, the biggest being the 2001 reboot of the franchise - Ultimate X-Men! Marvel Comics hit the reset button and created a brand new imagining of Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and the rest of the X-Men’s huge cast of characters. Mark Millar and Andy Kubert re-imagined Marvel’s mutants and positioned them in the middle of a world in the shadow of the 9/11 attacks and waging a war that violated a lot of personal rights. Social and political satire wrapped up in a sci-fi package!

This week we head back into the MVM Archives to bring you the story of the making of Marvel’s first ever X-Men movie - Generation X! Before Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart reinvented the superhero movie in the year 2000, Marvel teamed up with the Fox Network to make this low budget 1996 TV movie. Jubilee, Emma Frost, Banshee, and a whole host of young X-Men characters were brought to live-action for the very first time, but with a budget so low the action and special effects became painful to watch.
