In the year 2000 Marvel Comics gave gritty, modern reboots to Spider-Man, X-Men and The Avengers, creating brand new versions of the characters in a brand new universe. Ultimate Marvel was a huge hit, and laid the blueprint for how to modernise the characters for the cinema screen and inspired the MCU!
